Oil on canvas
Tell us a bit about yourself I've been making art for about 25 years. Originally interested in comics and animation, I started painting in the fine arts program at Mount Allison University. After 3 years there I went to Aegean Centre for the Arts in Greece and Italy to study classical techniques and art history. Then I came back to Ontario and took painting and drawing at OCAD for a year. In 2010 I moved back to my hometown of Thornbury, opened a studio/gallery and started painting full time.
What inspires you? I find inspiration all over the place. I'll go tripping to find interesting new landscapes or just paint scenes from my everyday surroundings. Georgian Bay, the Niagara escarpment, Blue Mountain, downtown Toronto, the subway. I always have a camera with me incase I see something to paint.
The method behind the madness Oil paint on canvas or panel. I usually work from source photos but sometimes paint en plein air.
We'd love to get to know a bit more about you Skiing, golfing, camping, hiking, concerts, movies, music, comics, and books
Tell us a story One of the first paintings I sold was to the model from figure painting class at Mount Allison. She bought the nude portrait of herself to give to her mom for Christmas. I thought that was pretty funny
