Tell us a bit about yourself
I live in work in Toronto, the city i grew up in. I have been doing art since I was a child and never grew out of it. Art helps me coop, react, and understand.
What inspires you?
The city of Toronto, my home, inspires me. As well as everything with in the city from the people to our domesticated wildlife.
The method behind the madness
My drawings are hat some would call mixed media. I use any type of material if it gives me the texture or look i want with in my drawings. My main materials are chalk pastels, markers, pencils, and embroidery thread. I will add, if I feel it necessary, oil pastels, paint, ink, and spray paint.
We'd love to get to know a bit more about you
Contemporary issues interest me, the environmental issues, consumerism, and social behavior. Camping has always been a big part of my life. I have been camping in Ontario since I was two, and going to my cottage up north since I was even younger than that.
Tell us a story
The first piece I ever sold was a the first print I ever did. I did it in my grade ten print making class in high school. It was a lino print of a hand holding a rose. I brought it home and had it on the dinning room tale and one of my older brothers friends saw it and asked me how much I wanted for it. I didn't think he was serious and I didn't know how to price art yet so I said a random number, 35, and he handed me the cash right there and took it home. He still has it to this day. I remember the feeling of glee and excitement it gave me to think that something I created for fun was worth something to someone, I didn't make it with the idea of selling it that was a really cool extra bonus and I knew after that that feeling of selling work was something I wanted to feel a lot though my life.
